Submission Guidelines.
Who should submit?
We welcome opinion pieces, expository essays, creative writing, and art from practitioners who are interested in promoting the cross-fertilization of ideas, new interdisciplinary interpretations and creative multi-disciplinary approaches to problem solving on a range of topics that are of urgent concern.
We prefer new pieces that have not yet appeared in print/online but may consider prior work that has been informally released.
Our editorial board will gladly review brief proposals, sketches or short outlines of submissions in progress, but will reserve final judgment on publication for completed work.
How does one submit?
This is a quarterly publication, but new work or proposals for pieces can be made at any time. Periodically, articles, poems, art, etc., will be solicited for specially-themed issues. New submissions and/or inquiries about submitting one’s work can be sent via email to info@theThinkingRepublic.com
What is the appropriate length, style & format for submissions?
Creative or scholarly writing should be approximately 750 – 1,750 words.
Academic/technical writing should be styled in a manner that makes it accessible to the general public or specialists from other disciplines.
A short bibliography will appear at the end of scholarly, expository or opinion pieces. Therefore, authors should include a short “bibliography of works cited” or “references for further reading”. Footnotes and citations to bibliographic sources will be replaced with hyperlinks for ease of online reading.
Authors are encouraged to use original images for which they own copyright. Otherwise, a list of suggested image resources that have Creative Commons-licenses should accompany submissions. To find beautiful, copyright-free images that can accompany your work, visit: Gender Spectrum Collection, Gratisography, Nappy, Pexels, Pixabay, Stocksnap.io and Unsplash.
Will authors/creators receive credit or compensation for their work?
Author’s name(s) and affiliation will be published, unless they prefer to publish pieces anonymously. In any case, a publication agreement must be signed.
In 2021, we will be able to offer contributors a small honorarium.
